3rd Novemember 2020 – Club Statement

By November 3, 2020No Comments

Over the weekend the UK Government announced a lockdown in England from Thursday 5th November to Wednesday 2nd December. The government has advised people to work at home where possible, avoid social contact and non-essential travel.

We have now been advised by British Gymnastics that all indoor facilities, including gymnastics clubs, should prepare to close as of Thursday 5th November.

The Government will meet on Wednesday to vote on the formal bill to pass these lockdown restrictions. British Gymnastics have been told there will be no exemptions for any sport or participant groups.

In some previous Government announcements on lockdown and restrictions, last minute changes have been made to the guidelines and caused confusion for some. As a result, British Gymnastics has informed us that they wish to wait before giving us the instruction to close our club until after the bill passes in Parliament on Wednesday.

This news is incredibly disappointing. We know the City of Lancaster Gymnastics Club has done everything it can to make our gymnastics safe for our members young and old!

On a positive note, in the last few days we have put together a plan of action for resuming our Zoom sessions. The coaches have discussed the content of the Zoom sessions with some of the squads and the coaches are now ready to meet to discuss how the Zoom sessions will look moving forward.

Please watch out for a link that will be sent to you via Parentmail tomorrow. The Parentmail will include the links you will need to access the Zoom classes. These sessions will be delivered by our coaches and will be as close to your child’s training sessions as possible. They will be around half the normal running time of your child’s gymnastics class. The Zoom sessions will commence this Thursday 5th November. Please note we have incorporated the Friday Dance classes into the Saturday timetable.

We have also put together a plan of action for resuming our Pre-school Gymnastics Zoom sessions. The coaches have discussed the content of the Zoom sessions moving forward from last time and we are excited to be able to deliver them once again. We are also including in our programme a preschool Dance and Movement Zoom class. These Gymnastics and Dance classes are open to our Butterflies and Grasshopper gymnasts only. Please watch out for a link that will be sent to you via Parentmail tomorrow giving you details on how to enrol onto the classes. Bookings will be done through our class4kids site.

We will now start to look at and apply for any grants that are available to help us through this financially difficult time.

Once again, we must be patient; make the best of the situation we find ourselves in and keep positive! Let us re-connect the gymnasts and coaches on Zoom, carry on working hard and have some fun with it!

Many thanks
