We are continuing to follow the Governments staged guidelines and directions with regards to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Update from The City of Lancaster Gymnastics Club on 17th March 2020
With immediate effect, as of today 17th March 2020 The City of Lancaster Gymnastics Club will cancel all competitions and social events until 9th July 2020.
City of Lancaster Gymnastics Club Activities
Please note that the competitive training sessions at the City of Lancaster Gymnastics Club and the University of Cumbria Sports Centre will continue to take place unless and until we are advised otherwise by the Government or British Gymnastics; we will continue to update the club’s members on the situation. If any parent wishes to withdraw their child from any training, either because of concerns or because of belonging to an at-risk group, then that is of course this is fine, and the club will fully support your decision.
At this moment in time our thoughts are that if schools close for a period due to the Coronavirus, the City of Lancaster Gymnastics Club will follow suit. If this does happen, we will arrange for make-up classes once we are open again to ensure you receive the tuition included in your monthly fees. As we are hoping that any closure will be of a short duration, we are not intending to alter or suspend monthly payments at this time.
Please note that the Pre-school Gymnastics training sessions at the City of Lancaster Gymnastics Club will continue to take place unless and until we are advised otherwise by the Government or British Gymnastics; we will continue to update the club’s members on the situation.
For any parents that have paid for any of the cancelled competitions please watch out for a Parentmail from us asking for bank details so we can process the refunds. Please bear with us in these unprecedented times as we contact all our members that are affected.
Health and Hygiene
We would encourage all gymnasts, parents, coaches, volunteers and officials to continue to follow the widely available guidance of public health regarding maintaining good hygiene to avoid spreading of the coronavirus. Information on how to do this is provided on the nhs.uk website with additional information available on the Public Health England blog.
We are ensuring washing facilities have appropriate provision of hygiene products. Hand hygiene is strongly promoted and encouraged at gym, and the equipment and facilities are thoroughly cleaned and wiped down following use. Information materials including posters for Public Health England’s campaign to help stop the spread of viruses are displayed.
If any gymnasts, coaches, volunteers or officials are feeling unwell, please follow the Government’s advice to self-isolate and therefore do not take part in gymnast-related activities or visit gymnastics facilities. For further information see the gov.uk website and the nhs.uk website. Furthermore, with the intention to limit the number of adults within the gym, we would also request that for the foreseeable future, parents please limit their time spent in the building to only dropping off and collection of gymnasts. As you are aware the corridor is a tight space and if you are intending to practice social distancing it may be advisable to wait in the foyer or outside the main doors. In line with child protection procedures we will not be able to allow gymnasts to leave the building unsupervised so please communicate this to the session lead coach.
We are awaiting further advice from the Government and British Gymnastics and if the above changes at any time this will be communicated as soon as possible.
With reference to the Recreational Gymnastics at the University of Cumbria, any relevant information can be obtained by contacting that site directly on 01524 590841.
Thank you so much for your cooperation at this very worrying and uncertain time.
Marie Gardner (Club Manager)
