30th June – Club Statement

By June 30, 2020No Comments

In last weeks Government announcement in regards to the easing of the lockdown restrictions, the Government announced that pubs, restaurants and various other businesses could reopen, but community sport could not.

We are so disappointed about this decision as are the gymnasts, coaches and everyone else associated with the club. In fact across the country, a wide array of sporting clubs were devastated by this decision. We are now having to explain to the children that they cannot return to the sport that they love.

The mental and physical health of our children is a concern for us and we are doing everything we can to help. Unfortunately delaying the reopening of these sports clubs has not helped. A lot of our gymnasts have been at home for 14 weeks now and they are missing their friends. Some are lonely, bored and are losing confidence and fitness.

We have and are still adapting our environment to work with social distancing. We are already wiping, cleaning and sanitising our gymnastics centre. We will strive to make our gym as safe as possible to enable us to return to training.

The coaches are working so hard to make the Zoom sessions as enjoyable and as successful as possible and we thank you for your continued support. I know it isn’t easy at times!

The running challenge was amazing with so many members taking part! The money raised will go to St John’s Hospice. We are always proud to be supporters of this truly wonderful place and the people that work there.

We are now thinking about ‘what next? So watch out on Facebook!

Finally, unfortunately we cannot give you a return date for training but I do hope we don’t have to wait too long.

Keep smiling and thank you again.
